Lantau Island

Lantau Island is the largest island in Hong Kong and is located west of Hong Kong Island. Tourists can most easily arrive to Lantau Island directly from the airport (since it is located on the northern tip of Lantau - just take a taxi or public bus to your destination), via ferry (from Central to Mui Wo or from Central to Discovery Bay) by MTR (stops in Sunny Bay and Tung Chung). There are plenty of hiking paths offered on the island or you can visit some of the many attractions, most notably Disneyland and the Big Buddha.

Hong Kong Island

Hong Kong Island is known for it's shopping and such famous sights as the Peak and Ocean Park. Typically this part of Hong Kong is referred to by locals as the 'Island side' or 'Hong Kong side'. The northern part of HK island together with Kowloon make up the urban core of Hong Kong.
